Yuvi, Dhoni power India to series win at Barabati

India overcame a belligerent England by 15 runs in the hard-fought second ODI to win the three-match series by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead here at Barabati Stadium today. India had won the first match at Pune by three wickets and they will be aiming to make a clean sweep of the series by winning the final game at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on January 22.

Riding on a century each by Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India compiled a massive total of 381 for six after being put into bat on flat track. In reply, a captain’s knock of 102 by Eoin Morgan and a half-century each by Jason Roy, Joe Root and Moeen Ali went in vain as England were restricted to 366 for eight.

Morgan’s 81-ball audacious knock brought England tantalizingly close to victory before he was smartly ran out by pacer Jasprit Bumra off his own bowling in the 49th over. This was the ninth ODI hundred by Morgan, who hit six boundaries and five sixes during his 129-minute stay in the middle.
